Hebrew Nikud Tool
Add automatic vocalization (nikud) to Hebrew text. Paste text, choose a genre, and get vocalized text instantly.
How It Works
Paste unvocalized Hebrew text in the input box. Select the text genre (modern, poetry, or rabbinic) and click Add Nikud. The tool sends your text to Dicta's nikud engine and returns vocalized text.
The genre affects vocalization accuracy. Modern text (news, articles, emails) fits the modern genre. Classical or modern poetry fits the poetry genre. Talmud, Mishnah, and rabbinic responsa fit the rabbinic genre.
The tool is powered by Dicta's nikud engine, a project of the Israel Center for Text Analysis. The engine combines neural networks with dictionaries and linguistic rule tables.
Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the nikud?+
Dicta's engine delivers very high accuracy for modern texts. However, it's recommended to review results for rare words or unique proper nouns.
What's the difference between the three genres?+
Modern is for contemporary text (news, blogs, emails). Poetry is for liturgical and modern poetry. Rabbinic is for halachic texts and Talmudic literature.
How much text can I vocalize at once?+
There's no strict limit, but for faster results it's recommended to submit a few paragraphs at a time. Very long texts may take longer.
Does the tool store my text?+
No. The text is sent to the nikud engine for processing only and is not stored on any server.
Can I vocalize text that already has partial nikud?+
Yes. The engine recognizes existing nikud and fills in the rest. For best results, it's recommended to remove existing nikud before submitting.
